Debuts New Virtual Film Events in July
The Vero Beach Wine + Film Festival has been postponed to 2021 due to the uncertain conditions surrounding public gatherings and large entertainment events. Organizers recognized that there are currently no clear answers or direction on where we may end up in the coming months.
“We appreciate the tremendous support and well wishes from our community during these uncertain times. We will use this time to strengthen our commitment to our mission and develop new avenues to fulfill our vision, “said Jerusha Stewart, Executive Director. “I look forward to welcoming everyone back in 2021 for our 5th year anniversary.”
Next up, the “Best of Asbury Shorts USA,” a screening of the wildly popular award-winning short films will be on view, Saturday, July 25 at 7 pm., in the VBWFF Virtual Theater. Special Guest, Doug LeClaire, Director, Asbury Shorts USA will host a live conversation with viewers following the films. Viewers will have the choice of ordering their dinners from Chef Ashley Allison and seeing the films in the comfort of their own homes. The film concert series celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2021 and is like a trip to the best film festivals in the world where you sample the elite of the short film genre.
“Asbury Shorts USA, New York City's longest-running touring short film exhibition, is thrilled to announce we'll be presenting 10 of our all-time favorite short films,” said Doug LeClaire. “What an honor! Our organization’s mutual respect of independent film-making has helped create an alliance we are so proud of."
Screening the world’s most popular short films in the greater New York metropolitan area and at tour stops across the US and Europe. The Asbury Shorts selection covers it all: Animation, Comedy, Drama, Documentary and Experimental.
VBWFF is partnering with Chef Ashley Allison, who’ll offer a signature dinner for two. The evening’s menu will be a delicious Savory Chicken Piccata with rustic red bliss mash and succulent French green beans. Summer berry crisp for dessert.
As a nod to art imitating life, VBWFF offered “The Black American Experience in Film” a screening of selected short films followed by a live Q & A with the filmmakers on Saturday, July 11, 2020, at 7 pm. The special event screening featured past VBWFF Official Selections celebrating black stories and artistic creations. After the broadcast, viewers may watch the films and recorded Q&A interviews throughout the month of July.
