Vero Beach is about to get a gift. International concert soloist Lisa Eden will perform a concert of opera classics and show tune favorites at 4:00 PM on Sunday, May 4 at First Presbyterian Church of Vero Beach, 520 Royal Palm Boulevard. The afternoon concert, Love is Where You Find It, will include works from Puccini to Cole Porter, arranged for a musical experience of the highest caliber.
A soprano who has sung dozens of roles from the opera repertoire, Lisa Eden will perform "Habanera" from Carmen and "Si, mi chiamano Mimì," from La Bohème. She will be joined by Evan Robinet on cello for the tender "Pie Jesu" from Andrew Lloyd Webber's Requiem, and will perform Victor Herbert's lighthearted, "Art is Calling for Me" from the comic opera, The Enchantress. Broadway numbers on the program include "Summertime" from Porgy and Bess, "I Could Have Danced All Night" from My Fair Lady and the concert namesake, "Love is Where You Find It." Additional works by Rodgers & Hammerstein, Lerner & Loewe, Cole Porter and others round out the diverse program. Dr. Jacob Craig will accompany Ms. Eden on piano. Eden has two Grammy Awards to her credit: for Best Opera Recording & Best Engineered Album, Classical, for the LA Opera official cast recording of The Ghosts of Versailles.
Admission to Love is Where You Find It is free and the public is invited to a post-concert reception immediately following the program. Concert donations are welcome and directly benefit the Music and Arts Department of First Presbyterian, to help fund the appearance of quality musical groups throughout the year.
