Celebrate Fall with Indian River Historical Society

There is something for everyone in the lineup of fall events hosted by the Indian River County Historical Society. The events include a variety of activities for all members of the family!

“We’re excited to offer a diverse range of activities that highlight our rich heritage while bringing the community together in celebration,” said the Historical Society President Mark Holt. “From cozy teas, and themed parties to ghost hunts our fall lineup is designed to be a fun and memorable experience for all ages.”

The following three events will be held at the Halstrom House located at 1723 Old Dixie Hwy SW in Vero Beach. The Hallstrom House was built in the early 1900s and is a living museum of days gone by.

On Saturday, October 5th from 2:00 pm until 3:30 pm the Autumn Tea will take place at the Hallstrom House. There are a limited number of reservations available on the Historical Society website. The cost is $45 per person in advance with tickets required at the door.

As dusk falls on the Hallstrom House, be there for Dinner & a Ghost Hunt on Saturday, October 19th from 7:30 pm to 12:00 Midnight.  Admission is $125.00 per person and includes a dinner catered by Marsh Landing Restaurant. Larry Lawson, owner and operator of Indian River Hauntings, will lead the ghost hunt. Larry is also the founder of The Florida Bureau of Paranormal Investigations.

Taking place on the grounds of the Hallstrom House, the annual Party at the Pineapple Plantation will be held on Saturday, November 2nd from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. No need for a reservation! Admission for adults is $15, children 6 and older is $10, and children 5 and under are admitted free. There will be games, music and food.

The only fall event not taking place at the Hallstrom House property is a historic video about the Hallstrom House! The video will be shown at the November 12th Movie Night event from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Women’s Club in historic downtown at 1534 21st Street, Vero Beach. Movie Night will include speakers to talk about the restoration of the Hallstrom carriage house and the new Indian River County walking trail located at the Hallstrom Farmstead Conservation Area behind the Hallstrom House. Admission is $5.00 per person.

Many of the events require a reservation made at irchistorical.orgThere you will see links to the individual events. All proceeds support the Historical Society’s preservation and educational initiatives.

Among the many accomplishments of the Historical Society are saving Jungle Trail, a historic 7.5-mile greenway along the Indian River Lagoon; implementing the countywide historic marker program; and successfully securing registration of local historic properties on the National Registry of Historic Places.

For over thirty years, the Indian River County Historical Society has contributed to preserving the historical and environmental resources of Indian River County, the Indian River Lagoon area, and the State of Florida. Through educational programs, historical preservation, and community events, the Historical Society fosters a deep appreciation for our shared local heritage.
