Atlantic Coast Orchestra brings beautiful music to Vero Beach and Stuart for their 34th season with four Masterworks series encompassing silver-screen favorites, great American exports, international passions, and, of course, classical ensembles.
Masterworks 1: The Wild West opens the series on January 11 and 12 with iconic music from concert halls and the silver screen, blending classic Western soundtracks, cowboy tunes, and trail ride melodies. From the Lone Ranger to Copland's Hoe Down, join the ACO in celebrating a vibrant chapter of the American experience with evocative scores by top home-grown composers.
Masterworks 2: Paris Jazz, February 8-9, celebrates the impact of Jazz, a quintessential American export. As it swept through the roaring '20s, Paris became the epicenter of "le jazz hot," attracting composers eager to embrace the trend. Four masterpieces, including Milhaud's quirky score for a Chaplin comedy and Gershwin's Parisian musical impression, highlight Jazz's influence on the era.
Masterworks 3: Latin Passions, March 21-22, explores the passionate world of Spanish music. Highlights include a tango-infused violin concerto from Argentina, Bizet's spirited excerpts from Carmen, and Manuel de Falla's vibrant ballet score. Astor Piazzolla's homage to Vivaldi adds a touch of classical form to the passion of tango.
The series wraps up with Masterworks 4: The Classics, April 11-12, with a nod to classical orchestra heritage. Haydn's first cello concerto showcases great tunes and virtuosity, while Beethoven's Eroica Symphony in the second half sets the stage for symphonists blending formal rigor with personal sentiment.
