Science meets celebration in Fort Pierce this October as the Indian River Lagoon Science Festival commemorates a decade of inspiring minds across the Treasure Coast. On Saturday, October 25, from 10 AM to 3 PM, Veteran’s Memorial Park will come alive with free, hands-on STEAM experiences for all ages at this family-friendly event that you won’t want to miss.
What began in 2014 as a grassroots initiative has grown into a regional celebration of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) drawing thousands of visitors annually. The festival’s mission is simple yet powerful: make science meaningful, fun, and accessible to everyone in our community.
During this milestone year, over 50 exhibitors will be offering immersive experiences that span marine biology, robotics, environmental conservation, medicine, and more. Attendees can pilot underwater vehicles, meet a life-sized humpback whale, explore a crime scene investigation van, glean native gardening tips, and even play with slime. From toddlers to lifelong learners, there’s something for everyone.

The fesvtival also highlights the incredible work of local organizations like the Smithsonian Marine Station, Florida Atlantic University Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute, Hubbs-SeaWorld Research Institute, University of Florida, and more, showcasing the science happening right in our own backyard. It’s a chance to meet real scientists, engage with cutting-edge research, and discover how STEAM impacts our daily lives.
Beyond the exhibits, visitors can enjoy food trucks, waterfront views, live science shows, and raffle prizes. Free parking and trolley service make it easy to attend, and volunteer opportunities are open to anyone 16 or older.
As we celebrate a decade of discovery, this event stands as a testament to the power of community collaboration and the joy of learning. It’s more than just a day of fun, it’s an investment in the future, inspiring the next generation of scientists, engineers, artists, and innovators.
Whether you’re a curious kid, a passionate educator, or simply looking for a great day out, the IRL Science Festival is for you. Join us on October 25 to be part of the celebration!
