BG Polo is entering its 4th year in Vero Beach and has quickly become an internationally recognized equestrian center and the jewel of polo! The 36-acre compound, just minutes off I-95, houses the beautifully maintained Vero Beach Polo field where competitive matches attract players from all around the world. “We’ve acquired some very distinctive corporate sponsors allowing us to enhance the polo experience for our patrons” explained Patta Conboy, BG Polo Equestrian Director. “For the first time, we will offer a Hospitality Tent viewing option, where guests will enjoy the match from the elegantly appointed, covered viewing area while sipping on champagne and indulging in tasty hors d’oeuvres. It’s certainly going to be one of the most sought after viewing areas this season”. This year you can also purchase your tickets on line at VeroBeachPolo.com.
The two resident pros, Tiffany Busch and Gaston Rodriquez are joined this year by Belinda Brody and Cuko Escapite, two crowd favorites who have developed quite a following with their play and showmanship skills. The new pros further support the expertise and competition of the Vero Beach polo members on the field. Matches begin at 1:30 but gates open an hour before so guests can set up their tailgating. Halfway through the match guests are invited to walk the field, enjoy a champagne toast and do the traditional divot stomp! For those who want to try their hand at swinging a mallet and hitting the ball there’s a wooden horse just waiting for your mount. Now just imagine what it’s like for the riders to swing and connect while traveling at a high rate of speed on horseback!
New to Polo Sundays this year, picnic lunches will now be available during the games! Chelsea’s on Cardinal now offers a special Polo Menu that includes individual boxed lunches, a charuterie board that can serve up to 4 and even a “Presidential Basket” complete with fresh salads, snacks and deserts. Orders can be placed up until the evening before the games and will be delivered right to your tailgate spot! To add to your enjoyment Bonner Mobile Bar will also be providing delivery of the finest liquors, wines and spirits directly to attendees.
After a delightful Sunday of polo plan a day to visit Sebastian Inlet State Park which is now affiliated with BG Polo. Last summer BG Management took over the marina, campground, rental and food concessions within the park. Rent a kayak, paddleboard or pontoon boat from the marina and explore the beautiful Indian River Lagoon. Take a swim or walk along the 3-mile pristine beach. Or cast a line directly into the ocean from the 745ft jetty or into the inlet from the catwalk beneath the bridge. Get your bait from the fully stocked bait show on site and feed yourself at the newly renovated BG Surfside Grill which is now open for breakfast and lunch. Spend the day with the family and you’ll take the kids home tired and happy!
